Apple’s 2026 Pro iPhone
Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026, at the same event as the foldable iPhone Duo, and released them on September 18. They come in black, glacier blue, silver and burgundy, with storage from 256GB up to a new 2TB option.
What’s new
The headline is the camera. The 48MP main camera now has a variable aperture, from ƒ/1.48 to ƒ/4, with manual aperture and shutter controls, joined by a 48MP 5x telephoto and a 48MP ultra wide. The 2nm A20 Pro chip is about a quarter faster on the CPU and over 40% faster on graphics than last year’s, the Dynamic Island is about 25% smaller, and the glass back now matches the frame color.
Battery is up too: Apple rates the Pro at up to 24 hours and the Pro Max at up to 30 hours, which Apple calls its biggest battery jump ever.
How it compares
9to5Mac calls it a refinement: hard to justify over an iPhone 17 Pro, but a strong upgrade for anyone on an iPhone 16 Pro or older. Its main complaint is weight. Apple also showed off the camera with “Shot on iPhone 18 Pro: new trick” by ROSÉ.
Price and who it’s for
The Pro starts at $1,199 and the Pro Max at $1,299, both $100 more than last year. The phone is sold by Apple and carriers; cases and accessories for it are on Amazon. It’s for photographers, video makers and anyone who wants Apple’s best camera and battery in a regular-size phone.
