The camera that films the impossible
GoPro started in 2002, when Nick Woodman wanted a way to film himself surfing. Its small, tough cameras now go everywhere: on surfboards, snowboards, race cars and even the edge of space. In 2012, Felix Baumgartner wore five GoPros when he jumped from about 24 miles up and broke the sound barrier for Red Bull Stratos.
HERO13 Black
The HERO13 Black, released in September 2024, is still the newest camera in GoPro’s HERO line. It records 5.3K video at 60 frames per second with HyperSmooth stabilization, has a bigger 1,900mAh Enduro battery, built-in GPS, Wi-Fi 6 and snap-on HB-Series lens mods, and it’s waterproof without a case.
For more, GoPro’s 2026 MISSION 1 PRO is its new flagship, with a 1-inch sensor and 8K video, at $699.
Price and who it’s for
The HERO13 Black starts at $399.99. It’s for surfers, skiers, bikers, travelers and anyone who wants to film their own adventures.
